Location: Stavanger

A vacancy has arisen within the Fluids Metering, Sampling and Analysis department in Norway for a Sampling Specialist / Chemist reporting to the Region MSA Manager.

The purpose of the job is to strengthen the onsite sampling and analytical team in Expro MSA in Norway, and to have a support function for the entire region.

The principal accountabilities of the position are:

  1. To be responsible for competently and safely performing: Sample heating/transfers, Sample flashing, Volumetric measurements, GORs/WGRs, GC analysis of oil and gas, Molecular weight, Bubble points, density at reservoir pressure and temp.
  2. To assist Oil Company with specific analytical problems/tests which may arise.
  3. To follow the work as detailed in the test program.
  4. To provide a detailed handover between shifts.
  5. To keep detailed written results of analytical results.
  6. To have joint responsibility in ensuring adequate supplies are in stock for job preparation, mobilisation and smooth operation of the work.
  7. To assist in maintaining storage and tracking of client samples.
  8. To assist in preparing samples for transport with respect to dangerous goods and other documentation for transport.
  9. To assist in forwarding data to clients in a timely manner.
  10. To assist in the preparation of all trace and PVT reports.
  11. To assist in quality control of all reports.

Field Engineers with more than 5 years experience and an understanding of the other sampling operations carried out on site may act as the job supervisor.

Supervisors Additional duties:

  1. Supervision of Expro’s on-site activities to ensure the work is carried out with the resources available in a timely and safe manner.
  2. Client Liaison, awareness of ongoing and future operations, reporting of job progress to the client, discussion and suggesting improvements where possible.
  3. Liaison with other service companies to ensure smooth working relationship.
  4. QA/QC of reported field data.
  5. Compilation of field reports and job reports.
  6. Responsible for safe keeping of all reported data.

The successful candidate will also meet the following criteria:

  • The position requires a high extend of independency.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • Good computer knowledge.
  • Accurate and quality aware.
  • Professional qualifications in chemistry, petroleum or process technology with degree from university or high school.
  • Relevant experience can compensate for the lack of formal education.
